Climax you don’t have to understand ‘Climax’. That is the first thing that should be said to anyone who goes to see it.Climax For those who do not know the cinema of Frenchman Gaspar Noé and come to the film for its good reviews in the Directors’ Fortnight in Cannes (where he won), for the impressive dance numbers or for seeing the new metamorphosis of Sofia Boutella, we must tell him that the term enfant terrible was invented for artists like the French-Argentine. If the public has thought of something, it is not to like, entertain or educate them, but to provoke them, to punish their search for comfort or relaxation.

In his first feature film, 88 minutes, the filmmaker began with a clock that counted down the audience to leave the room. It was 1998, twenty years ago, and the film was called ‘Alone against all’, but the Frenchman was already very clear that he did not want to conquer the masses with his films. He never warned of it again. Perhaps that is why more than one and more than two came face to face with one of the hardest scenes in film history. The movie this time was titled ‘Irreversible’ (2002) and promised an attractive amount of sex and meat from its leading partner, Vincent Cassel and Monica Bellucci. There was, yes, but through a very long fixed-shot rape scene that made us squirm helplessly in the chair. In ‘Love’ (2015), his film most crushed by critics, he directly ejaculated the viewer in the face thanks to 3D.
